REFURBISHING OF STONE & BRICK SURFACES

C02 Cleaning Services has developed a very unique system for the refurbishing of facial rock, brick, or stone surfaces that needs to be cleaned. The removal of residue, paint, mildew, and mold in the past has had to rely on two or three basic mechanical ways for cleaning. Grit blasting, high-pressure washing and acid wash has been the most common means. These methods can cause and create damage to the surface areas being cleaned and at the same time impose an environmental concern for secondary containment and disposal of excess materials from the cleaning process. C02 Blast cleaning is similar to the traditional grit blasting with one major exception.

"There is no secondary waste".

C02 (carbon dioxide), under pressure, creates a hard and extremely cold material we know as dry ice. It turns directly into a gaseous form upon impact, which is called sublimation. The high-density C02 Drice pellets are accelerated under compressed air through an air blast line, striking the contaminated area. The Drice pellets are hard yet they explode on impact removing the residue material from the surface and returning to a gaseous form upon impact. The residue material is removed from the surface and falls to the floor to be either swept or vacuumed.

If the contamination being removed is considered a hazardous material such as Lead Paint, then there is a "value-added" feature of C02 blast cleaning since the pellets turn to a gaseous form upon impact, the only material remaining for disposal is the removed product itself.

"The only thing left - is what we take off".

C02 Pellets (Drice Pellets) are the size of cooking rice and the pellets are extremely cold and or maintained in specialized insulated containers. Even though the Drice pellets are at a - 130 degrees, the objects surface being C02 blast cleaned will never be lowered less than 10 degrees.

Our mobile C02 blast/cleaning systems are state-of-the-art and allow us the ability to vary the blast media from 1# to 6 #'s per minute and control the pressures from 75 #'s to 325 # with an airflow ranging from 100 cfm to 470 cfm producing a food quality blast cleaning up to 350' from the mobile unit to the area being cleaned.

In the attached pictures you can see the result of a clean C02 blast cleaning results where we have removed excess mortar, mildew and residue from various types of brick, rock surfaces with out any damage or marring to the surface and with no secondary containment or disposal of excess materials.

C02 Cleaning Services can show you the way to a safe, economical, and faster way to clean.
